A day after Shane Beamer led the South Carolina Gamecocks football team to one of the most improbable wins in program history, the second-year head coach saw a handful of recruits.
Included among them were official visitors and unofficial guests from multiple classes. On Sunday night, Beamer was asked about the guys who came in town a night earlier.
“It was about as good as it gets, from a recruiting standpoint,” Beamer said, referring to the 63-38 win over Tennessee.
“One, with the prospects that were here. Two, the way we played. And three, the atmosphere and the celebration at the end of the game. It was awesome. I told you at the press conference, there were a bunch of smiling faces in that locker room afterward, and I’m still going through text messages on my phone from recruits. It will probably be another week before I’m able to get to them all, but they were all texting me after the game.
“Very much like the A&M game (when) I told you. I had a couple of them FaceTime me (Saturday) night at like 1:30 in the morning, just wanted to talk and were excited. Then I was back in the office this morning, met with one at 8:30 this morning, then had about six recruits in my office throughout the day as well, and it was nothing but positive. Just wanted to thank our fanbase for the atmosphere they created (on Saturday) night. That was unbelievable.”
According to the 247Sports Composite, South Carolina has the No. 15-ranked recruiting class in the class of 2023. They’re in the mix for several prospects, a couple of whom were in town over the weekend.
